A range of novel phosphorus-containing tricarbonyl(eta(6)-arene)chromi
um complexes has been synthesised via the enantioselective ortho-metal
lation approach using a chiral lithium amide base. Initial asymmetric
reaction of a phosphine oxide complex allows the preparation of silyl-
or stannyl-substituted products in ca. 73% ee, which then allows the p
reparation of other phosphine derivatives in very high ee (>95%) follo
wing phosphine reduction and enantiomeric enrichment.
