C. Bauerle et al., THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF MULTILAYER HE-3 FILMS DESCRIBED BY HIGH-TEMPERATURE SERIES EXPANSIONS OF THE MULTIPLE SPIN-EXCHANGE HAMILTONIAN, Journal of low temperature physics, 110(1-2), 1998, pp. 345-350
We report high precision NMR measurements of the susceptibility of He-
3 films adsorbed on graphite in a the temperature range 4-300 mK using
a fine coverage grid between 0.185 and 0.285 atoms/Angstrom(2). High
temperature series expansions of the multiple spin exchange Hamiltonia
n fit accurately the susceptibility as well as available heat capacity
data, providing a consistent description of the structural and thermo
dynamic properties of He-3 films. A long standing paradox for the ferr
omagnetic regime (heat capacity and susceptibility are described by th
e Heisenberg model, but with different exchange constants) is quantita
tively explained by the MSE model.
