PHASE-SEPARATION OF LIQUID HE-3-HE-4 MIXTURES IN POROUS VYCOR GLASS

We report our recent investigations of the phase separation of liquid He-3-He-4 mixtures in the restricted geometry of porous Vycor glass us ing pressure measurements, The experimental cell is entirely filled wi th a Vycor cylinder and closed by a cold valve. We are measuring the p ressure versus temperature by means of a capacitive pressure gauge. Th e results are discussed in comparison with the phase separation of hel ium mixtures in aerogel,(1) in particular with respect to the differen t ratio of substrate surface to liquid volume of both glasses.
