The interaction between cations of trivalent samarium and oxide ions i
n the NaCl-2CsCl melt is studied at 973 K by the potentiometric method
, using an electrochemical cell containing two platinum-oxygen electro
des with a solid electrolyte membrane. The interaction mechanism and c
omposition of the reaction products are considered as a function of th
e oxyacidity of the environment. Some thermodynamic characteristics of
the process are calculated.
