Vn. Nekrasov et al., POTENTIAL DECAY CURVES FOR ANALYZING THE POLARIZATION BEHAVIOR OF THEGAS-GENERATING ELECTRODE, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 33(12), 1997, pp. 1332-1338
The electrode process on a gas electrode under nonsteady-state conditi
ons (the potential decay curves) is modeled theoretically. Specific fe
atures pertaining to the polarization and adsorption characteristics o
f the electrode system are revealed for the predominating mechanisms o
f recombination and electrochemical desorption. The possibility is dis
cussed of elucidating the electrode reaction mechanism at the gas elec
trode and the adsorption state at its surface on the basis of an equiv
alent electrode capacitance (which includes the double layer capacitan
ce and the adsorption faradaic capacitance) and other parameters that
characterize the relaxation process after switching off the polarizati
on current.
