Stenotrophomonas maltophilia has been recently identified as an import
ant cause of life-threatening infections in immunocompromised hosts or
in patients admitted in intensive care units. This organism is usuall
y resistant to multiple antimicrobial agents and it is widely suscepti
ble to antibiotics as minocycline and quinolones not recommended in ch
ildren. The Authors report their observation concerning an eight years
old boy and confront it with the few literature reports.
