This study deals with the modelling of the elasto-plastic behavior of
aluminium sheets using a self-consistent scheme based on scale transit
ion techniques. The influence of the initial crystallography textures
on the elasto-plastic response of the material has been analysed. Crys
tallographic orientation of sets of grains (single crystals) have been
generated using statistical repartition functions. The physical elast
o-plastic parameters required by the self-consistent model have been d
educed from experimental tension curves. The Lankford coefficients hav
e been then calculated for various sample orientations with respect to
the rolling direction. A good agreement has been found between experi
mental and predicted pole figures and tension curves. as well as the L
ankford coefficients. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science S.A.
