Abstract
In this paper, some interesting results are reported in relation to th e problem relating to the correct prediction of the expulsion load whi lst performing precision forging operations. The study has been conduc ted considering room temperature, as well as linear elastic and elasti c-plastic behaviour for the matrix (die) and the forged piece, respect ively. Obviously the expulsion load depends greatly on the forging loa d or pressure. The process starts by considering clearance between the two elements. The theoretical results, obtained analytically, are com pared with those obtained from FEM analysis and experimental tests. (C ) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
