Dissecting the cervical vertebral column usually is presumed in the co
urse of a routine autopsy to be difficult and time-consuming. Addition
ally, most techniques described in the literature lead to extensive mu
tilation of the corpse. We present a method which can be performed qui
ckly and is learned easily. The major advantage of our technique is th
at the integrity of the corpse, in particular of the facial surface, i
s maintained.
