Abstract
The time-domain theory of forerunners (precursors) in temporally dispe rsive, nonmagnetic, isotropic materials is developed with the propagat or technique. Specifically, the impulse response at a (comparatively) large propagation depth is expanded in two different ways: (a) with re spect to the wave front and (b) with respect to slowly varying field c omponents. A few numerical examples illustrating the theory are given. (C) 1998 Optical Society of America.
