Abstract
A new combination, Hebe brevifolia, is made for the taxon first descri bed as Veronica speciosa var. brevifolia and later treated by Moore in 1961 as Hebe macrocarpa var. brevifolia. Hebe brevifolia is an ultram afic endemic, distinguished from H. macrocarpa var. macrocarpa by its smaller stature and decumbent habit, lanceolate-elliptic to oblanceola te or rarely obovate leaves, large crimson widely spaced flowers borne on long pedicels, and chromosome number. The conservation status of H ebe brevifolia is discussed.
