Microporous molybdenum containing silicalite-2 (MoMEL) has been synthe
sized hydrothermally, under aluminium free alkaline conditions. Physic
ochemical characterization of the sample (XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis and TG/DTA
) has revealed the possible incorporation of molybdenum ions in the ze
olite framework. MoMEL is active in the oxidative dehydrogenation of e
thanol to acetaldehyde with about 40% conversion at 673 K with a selec
tivity of 90%.
