Abstract
We discuss flexoelectricity in cholesteric liquid crystals. In particu lar we point out that experimental results obtained by Patel and Meyer can be understood as surface effects. In addition we discuss similari ties and differences between static and dynamic effects associated wit h flexoelectricity in cholesteric and nematic liquid crystals.
