Kw. Kehr et al., NONLINEAR MOBILITY OF PARTICLES IN NONSYMMETRIC POTENTIALS UNDER STRONG BIAS CONDITIONS, Physica status solidi. b, Basic research, 205(1), 1998, pp. 73-76
The hopping mobility of particles on discrete linear chains is conside
red, when an arbitrary bias acts on the particles. An exact expression
for the stationary current is given in terms of the site energies and
the transition rates between the sites, and verified by numerical sim
ulations. The mobility exhibits rectification effects in the regime of
nonlinear response, if the sit energies and barriers correspond to no
nsymmetric potentials. Possible extensions to two- and three-dimension
al systems are dicussed.
