Abstract
The generalized Schrodinger equation with the Kerr and saturation nonl inearities is used to investigate the filamentation instability and lo calization of arbitrarily large amplitude optical pulses in nonlinear media. The existence of finite amplitude optical clumps (optical solit ons or light bullets) is demonstrated. Conditions under which the fila mentation instability and light localization arise are presented.
