Acute necrotizing eosinophilic myocarditis is characterized by acute o
nset, fulminant congestive heart failure, and extensive necrosis of my
ocytes with striking eosinophilic infiltration. However, multinucleate
d giant cells sometimes appear in the fulminant phase of severe myocar
ditis. This is the first case of a patient with a 1 year previous hist
ory of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, who presented with acute n
ecrotizing eosinophilic myocarditis with giant cell infiltration.
