R. Sihota et al., MITOMYCIN-C DROPS IN THE POSTOPERATIVE PHARMACOLOGICAL MODULATION OF TRABECULECTOMIES, Annals of ophthalmology. Glaucoma, 29(6), 1997, pp. 362-366
The efficacy of mitomycin C drops, 0.3mg/ml, was evaluated in the trea
tment of 16 early trabeculectomy failures resulting from subconjunctiv
al fibrosis. Sixteen eyes of 15 patients diagnosed between the second
and fourth postoperative weeks were prospectively and systematically r
andomized into two groups for further management Intraocular pressure
and bleb status were recorded for a minimum of 6 months, Postoperative
use of mitomycin C drops allows modulation of early trabeculectomy fa
ilures and enables ophthalmologists to restrict the use of this potent
ially toxic drug in patients who show evidence of trabeculectomy failu
