We study X-ray and optical properties of a sample of ACO clusters of g
alaxies with dumbbells as tile brightest cluster galaxy. In this work
we use X-ray data from the ROSAT archive and galaxy distributions take
n from the COSMOS data base. We compute moments for the X-ray emission
s and for tile galaxy distributions. Based on tile morphological prope
rties of clusters of galaxies we investigate possible relations betwee
n the evolution of clusters of galaxies, dumbbell systems and cD galax
ies. The existence of central cooling flows is examined to test whethe
r this phenomenon is affected by the presence of dumbbell galaxies.
