Abstract
Polar lipid profiling of strains of some Porphyromonas species by fast -atom bombardment mass spectrometry revealed that P. gingivalis is dis tinct from strains tested of P. endodontalis or P. asaccharolytica. Wi thin P. gingivalis there are differences with respect to animal source and even amongst strains from the same animal species.
