Abstract
The aim of the environmental policy of the European Union is to reduce the automotive hydrocarbon emissions. The Euro 96 and future Euro 200 0 standards are particularly dealing with the emissions due to fuel pe rmeation through polymeric materials. In this paper, the testing proce dure for fuel lines developed at IFP, PSA, and Renault, is described. Results obtained with various types of fuel lines and several fuels ar e detailed. According to these results and to the new stringent standa rds, equipment and material suppliers will have to develop new solutio ns with improved permeation resistance.
