Femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy of the equilibrated hydrated elect
ron has been recorded with 35 Ps resolution, revealing unprecedented t
ransient features on the 30-80 fs time scales that have been assigned
to inertial solvation dynamics of the hydrated electron. These data al
low for a rigorous experimental evaluation of the recently published n
onadiabatic quantum molecular dynamics simulations of the adiabatic an
