Spin polarization transfer is proven to be very useful in obtaining de
tailed information of the continuum nuclear responses. The data, taken
for the ((p) over right arrow,(n) over right arrow reactions, have en
abled us to separate the response into the spin longitudinal and trans
verse components, These partial nuclear responses have been successful
ly used to make critical tests of nuclear structure models. In the pre
sent paper, we shall first summarize the results of the data and the t
heoretical analyses made so far. We shall then discuss information obt
ainable from the ((3) (H) over right arrow,(t) over right arrow) react
ion, emphasizing on the differences and similarities in comparison wit
h the ((p) over right arrow, (n) over right arrow) reaction, The resul
ts of numerical calculations made for ((3) (H) over bar e, (t) over ri
ght arrow) reactions based on the microscopic distorted wave impulse a
pproximation will also be reported.
