Predation of artificial nests in pine barrens savanna patches in north
western Wisconsin uas correlated significantly with proximity to edge
(P = 0.02). Densities of blue jays (Cyanocitta cristata) and brown-hea
ded beaded cowbirds (Molothrus ater) were significantly greater along
edge transects than savanna interior transects (P < 0.001 and P = 0.00
1). Land management practices in the pine barrens may influence edge-r
elated nest loss.
