For matching two trimmed B-spline surfaces, it is often necessary to m
odify a surface locally to match a curve on one surface to a curve on
the other surface. Sometimes, tangent or higher derivative constraints
are imposed to ensure smoothness across the matching boundary. In thi
s paper we present an algorithm for moving a B-spline surface to a B-s
pline curve. The key step is the representation of compositions of spl
ines and products of splines which we have handled by using an algorit
hm of E. Lee. Some numerical examples are given at the end of the pape
