Abstract
This paper describes an approach for data-driven generation of structu red models of complex and unknown processes by means of genetic progra mming. The basic approach which is used to generate and to modify symb olic model descriptions represented as block diagrams is introduced an d an application for modelling of an industrial biotechnological fed-b atch fermentation process is presented.
