V. Casse et al., CHRONIC LONG-STANDING DEPIGMENTATION DUE TO POSITIVE TESTING WITH METHACRYLATES, Annales de dermatologie et de venereologie, 125(1), 1998, pp. 56-57
Introduction : Many chemical products are known to induce depigmentati
on. This phenomenon was never reported with methacrylates which are co
mponents of acrylic resine. Case report. A female patient with artific
ial nails developped contact dermatitis. Localized depigmentation at t
he site of positive patch tests to methacrylates derivatives was obser
ved. Discussion. The chemical substance could have a direct influence
either by its toxic effect-or by the induced inflammatory reaction.
