Abstract
Ultraviolet A (UVA) induced inhibition in photosystem II (PSII) photoc hemistry of primary leaves of wheat seedlings senescing in light or da rkness has been examined. O-2 evolution and 2,6-dichlorophenol indophe nol (DCPIP) photoreduction diminished in the presence of light. Result s of thermoluminescence (TL) studies suggest that UVA inhibits the act ivity of PSII by accelerating the process of senescence-induced modifi cations of Q(B) protein conformation and/or S-state transitions.
