Abstract
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of culture con ditions on extracellular protease biosynthesis by Streptomyces spp. G( 157). It was found that there was optimum expression of extracellular proteases in a medium of soya-bean meal (2%), mannitol (2%) at a pH of 7.2 and temperature of 28 degrees C. Among the sugars glucose and sta rch had a greater repressive effect than the others. Phosphate was fou nd to have an inhibitory effect on protease biosynthesis.
