The U-235 (I = 7/2) NMR for magnetic uranium sites with 5f-electrons h
as been first observed in the antiferromagnetic state of UO2. The hype
rfine field is estimated to be 252.3 +/- 0.5 T. Well articulated quadr
upole splittings have also been observed with \e(2)qQ(3cos(2) theta-1)
/h\ = 392 +/- 11 MHz. This indicates the presence of an electric field
gradient produced by the Gamma(5)-ground state for 5f-electrons in th
e magnetic ordering.
