Abstract
Iron uptake of the Fe-57-siderophores ferricrocin, rhizoferrin and cit rate in M. smegmatis was analyzed by in situ Mossbauer spectroscopy. S iderophore dependent uptake and metabolic utilization patterns of Fe-5 7 were found. Rhizoferrin is accumulated in the organism and, therefor e, represents a suitable candidate for the synthesis of novel sideroph ore-antibiotics conjugates.
