Abstract
Ball milling can be used to induce solid state reactions in a variety of technologies, including the activation of silicates, inorganic synt hesis, and mechanical alloying. Mossbauer spectroscopy is a powerful t ool to study these processes. Some typical examples are discussed in t his paper, concerning disordering, alloying, and simple chemical react ions. Many more industrial applications are possible, with ample oppor tunity for meaningful Mossbauer investigations.
