Abstract
The distributions of scintillation index in the interior region of an interplanetary shock wave are obtained by using scintillation observat ions from Pushchino, Russia. The dependence of scintillation index m o n the distance from a shock front surface Delta r is strong and can be represented by a two-component structure of distribution of turbulenc e level (delta N-e)(2). The first component occupies a narrow layer wi th thickness of about 0.02 AU and size of about 0.3 AU, in which the r elative enhancement of delta N-e is about root 15. The second componen t occupies a layer with thickness Delta r = 0.1 AU and size of about 0 .7 AU, in which the relative enhancement of delta N-e is about root 2. The typical distance of the shock front from the Sun was on the order of 1 AU in the events that we investigated.
