A. Dreischuh et al., NONLINEAR ALIGNMENT BETWEEN CONICAL EMISSIONS GENERATED IN A 4-WAVE PARAMETRIC MIXING PROCESS, Applied physics. B, Lasers and optics, 66(2), 1998, pp. 175-180
The dependence of the yellow conical emission angle on pump laser inte
nsity is studied experimentally in dense Na vapor under near-resonant
one-photon excitation of the sodium 4(2)P levels. A numerical model de
veloped to describe mechanisms involved in the conical emission genera
tion processes indicates that the saturation observed is due to the op
posite angular tuning of the near-infrared and yellow conical emission
generated in the same process. The mechanisms responsible are assigne
d to (self)induced phase modulation processes of the waves involved.
