Enochrus ater (Kuwert) and E. salomonis (Sahlberg) are recorded for th
e first time in Europe. E. ater has a wide distribution in the whole M
editerranean basin, reaching central Asia in the east and central Euro
pe in the north. It is common in stagnant well vegetated waters, parti
cularly in coastal wetlands. E. salomonis is so far known to occur onl
y in the Iberian Peninsula and in the eastern Mediterranean region, an
d inhabits small streams at low and medium altitude.
