Cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) has developed rapidly providing a meth
od of both imaging congenital heart disease and assessing function usi
ng a variety of techniques. The aim of this review is to identify indi
cations for MR and its relative strengths and weaknesses in comparison
to other methods of cardiac imaging. A potential future role for MR i
