The Poisson structure and exact solvability of several nonlinear dimer
s is demonstrated and used to investigate self-trapping and blow-up ef
fects. A large class of nonlinear dimers is shown to be solvable in te
rms of Jacobi elliptic functions using the r-matrix method.
