Abstract
Substantial increases in selectivity towards monoalkylation of benzene with alkenes can be achieved through the use of mesoporous HMS as sup port for immobilised aluminium chloride and through the use of externa l site poisons while maintaining activities comparable to homogeneous AlCl3.
