S. Buchanan et F. Gibb, THE INFORMATION AUDIT - AN INTEGRATED STRATEGIC APPROACH, International journal of information management, 18(1), 1998, pp. 29-47
Fundamental to the development of an effective information strategy is
the recognition of information as a key organisational resource. The
role of the information audit is to provide a method for identifying,
evaluating, and managing information resources in order to fully explo
it the strategic potential of information. In consideration of this st
rategic role the information audit should provide strategic direction
and guidelines for the management of an organisation's information res
ources. However, a review of existing methods concludes that none prov
ide a comprehensive information auditing solution or completely fulfil
this strategic role. Therefore a universal methodology is proposed. (
