Abstract
New ergostane type ecdysteroids from the mushroom species Paxillus atr otomentosus: paxillosterone, its 20,22-p-hydroxybenzylidene acetal, at rotosterones A, B and C and 25-hydroxyatrotosterones A and B have been characterized. 20-Hydroxyecdysone asa minor constituent has also been isolated. Configuration at C(24) of paxillosterone was derived from p roton 2D-ROESY NMR spectra of its cyclic phenylboronate derivatives. C onfiguration at C(24) of 25-hydroxyatrotosterone A was assigned by com parison of its NMR spectra with the spectra of both 24-epimers of maki sterone A. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
