cid) and thylphenyl)-3-methoxy-2,3,4,5-terahydrofuran-2-one (globoscin
) have been isolated as mixtures of optically active epimers from the
culture media of the fungus Xylaria globosa and the fungus Xylaria obo
vata. Their structure determination by chemical and physical methods a
nd their labile properties are described.
