Sv. Kovalev et al., CALCULATION OF OBJECT RADAR CHARACTERISTICS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE INFLUENCE OF SURFACE-WAVES AND SLOTS, Journal of communications technology & electronics, 43(1), 1998, pp. 33-42
Radar characteristics of objects in the HF-scattering region are calcu
lated after facet representation of their surfaces by summing up refle
ctions from the main elements of the object-plates, edges, and slots-a
nd taking into account surface waves produced by these elements. Echo-
area patterns calculated by the proposed method are compared with the
experimental results obtained for rectangular and triangular plates, s
lotted objects, and a cone-sphere. The method enables one to obtain ra
dar characteristics of an object, taking into consideration polarizati
on of the sounding signal and radiophysical properties of the material
s and coatings. As an example, numerical results for the cone-sphere a
re presented for the case of parallel and orthogonal reception at line
ar and circular polarization of the electric field and for a dihedral
corner reflector with coating.
