K. Spies et al., DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN STUDENTS ABILITIES AND DEMANDS AS DETERMINANTS OF THEIR SATISFACTION WITH STUDIES, PSYCHOLOGIE IN ERZIEHUNG UND UNTERRICHT, 45(1), 1998, pp. 36-52
Based on the Person-Environment-Fit-Theory (French et al., 1982) the h
ypothesis was tested that students' satisfaction with their studies de
pends on the fit between perceived demands and perceived abilities. St
udy satisfaction as well as demands and corresponding abilities referr
ing to intellectual, social and emotional factors were obtained via qu
estionnaire (N = 325 students. It was shown that fit-values for the em
otional factor predicted study satisfaction in general, while fit-valu
es for learning strategies and social competence proved to be relevant
fur the special aspect of satisfaction with study contents.
