Rp. Hoxey et al., CORRECTION OF WIND-TUNNEL PRESSURE COEFFICIENTS FOR REYNOLDS-NUMBER EFFECT, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 71, 1997, pp. 547-555
Detailed measurements on a low-rise building made at full scale and on
a wind-tunnel model show a significant Reynolds number effect associa
ted with the separated flow region on the windward roof slope of the b
uilding. Other possible causes for the observations are explored but a
re systematically eliminated. Brief details of the experimental proced
ure are presented together with significant results which suggest gene
ralised corrections for scale effects. It is also proposed that the se
nsitivity of the separated flow at the windward eaves to Reynolds numb
er has a secondary effect on the flow pattern downstream. Further deta
iled measurements are required to enable the correction factors to be
generalised for other types of structure.
