Analysis of Noric stud farm in the Muran area was focused on evaluatio
n of type, body frame and blood make-up in the process of dam differen
tiation in relation to studs and on herd age structure. Herd analysis
(59 mares) followed the extent allowed by pedigree records on the stud
farm. Taking into account the length of its existence and conditions
of its buildup, the herd of Noric mares shows positive results and pre
requisites for quality improvement. The Muran type of Noric horse repr
esents an effort to achieve maximum robustness, but appropriate robust
ness allows for constitution hardness and mobility. Analysis of the Mu
ran stud herd provides a basis of comparison to make a similar analysi
s of the Noric herd at Klokocov since both stud farms are among the la
rgest ones with Noric horses at an international scale.
