Abstract
Along a Danube-Gabrovo cross-section from Central Fore Balkan nn to Mo esian Platform the Barremian-Aptian deposits are distributed within th ree distinct paleogeographic domains: a central terrigenous basin (Ple ven-Polski Trambes) and, laterally (N: Danube, S: Gabrovo) two carbona te-dominated platforms where ''Urgonian'' facies carl be well-develope d. This pattern is induced by synsedimentary extensional tectonics alr eady active from the end of Jurassic times. The subdivision of the var ious series into eight 3(d) order depositional sequences and the recen t discovery of ammonites allow us to propose new and more reliable cor relations between the traditional lithologic formations characterizing those three domains.
