Abstract
A study of intra-individual variability of nitrogen isotopic compositi on of bone collagen from cattle mandibles from the neolithic site of B ercy (Paris, IVth millenium BC) showed that the young bovines were wea ned at an age between 6 and 12 months old. The examination of the mort ality profile shows that the young were slaughtered at this age. The o btained results do not contradict the 'post-lactation' peak hypothesis , which could be the evidence for an economy oriented towards dairy pr oduction.
