Military, psychiatrists, close to the troops, during the external oper
ations in which the French army is involved since some years, are revi
ving with an operational battlefield practice. What they owes to their
predecessors is actually included in a discipline, a military institu
tion, and a society which have evolved. Psychosocial psychiatric pract
icing, in such an opportunity, finds a privileged source of reflection
s and lessons. Some of them may be used beyond their initial specific
frame.
