Abstract
The effects of academic and nonacademic variables on grade point avera ges (GPAs) differed for freshmen and upper-level female student-athlet es. For the academic variables, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores were consistently related to fall and spring semester GPAs for both gr oups. For the nonacademic variables, social support was a predictor of academic performance for the freshmen student-athletes only.
