A case of successful pregnancy in an in-vitro fertilization cycle, in
spite of an accidental exposure to daily long-acting gonadotrophin-rel
easing hormone analogue administration, is reported. The patient under
went two intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles with thawed epididyma
l spermatozoa, in which, due to a pharmacist's mistake, ovarian stimul
ation was carried out by a combination of long-acting gonadotrophin-re
leasing hormone agonist (leuprolide depot) and gonadotrophins. A succe
ssful singleton pregnancy was achieved after intrauterine embryo trans
fer with the birth of a healthy boy after 38 weeks. We describe the ci
rcumstances and results of this clinical case, as well as reviewing th
e literature.
