Rgj. Flay et Bj. Vickery, FORCE AND PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS ON A ROUGH CONE IN TURBULENT SHEAR-FLOW, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 72(1-3), 1997, pp. 13-22
A detailed wind-tunnel test has been carried out on a rough cone using
a 256-channel electronic pressure transducer system. The results from
a reduced data set consisting of weighted integrations of pressure si
gnals at each level to form time series of lift and drag at each level
are compared with results from two balance tests. Agreement between m
ean, rms. and peak moments was very good. Aerodynamic damping was foun
d to be negative only when the forcing frequency was close to the shed
ding frequency, and only then at the lower sections of the model.
